Shortly after the nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or were announced, FIFA did the same and presented the candidates for The Best 2023 awards. As in the award given by France Football magazine, there will be little Brazilian presence at the ceremony of the mother body of world football.
While Vinicius Junior is the only Brazilian representative among the 30 contenders for the Ballon d’Or, Ederson is in consideration for The Best award for best goalkeeper. In the best player category, however, there are no Brazilian players

As explained by the organizing body, the period included for this award goes from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023. In this way, Ederson was nominated for his excellent performances with Manchester City, having played a key role in their conquest of the treble (Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup).
The ceremony does not yet have a confirmed date, but you can now vote in the different categories through the official FIFA site.
Meanwhile, Brazil will still not have a winner in the best player award. Until now, Cristiano Ronaldo (2016 and 2017), Luka Modric (2018), Lionel Messi (2019 and 2022) and Robert Lewandowski (2020 and 2021) were the only ones to receive the recognition.
