Philippe Coutinho was ruled out of the World Cup because of an thigh injury. He was left out of coach Tite’s final list and used his social media accounts to thank fans for their support.

The Aston Villa midfielder, who probably would be featured on the final list, suffered a left thigh injury and will be out of action for a few weeks, unable to recover in time to compete in Qatar. Brazil plays its first game on the 24th, against Serbia.

Coutinho had a promising start when he returned to England to play for Aston Villa from Barcelona, but his performance suffered a drop during this season. He was usually on the bench and got subbed in during the games, but couldn’t score or provide an assist until now.

Despite that, he has the confidence of Tite. His last call-up was in June for the friendlies against Japan and South Korea. He was able to score against the Koreans. Coutinho is also the third top scorer during the management of Tite.
