FC Barcelona has provided shelter to several of the most important Brazilian talents of recent decades. It is impossible to think about the Catalan institution without imagining Ronaldinho’s dribbles, Neymar’s magic, Romário’s goals or Rivaldo’s legendary overhead kick, evidencing the important legacy that Brazilian samba has left at Barça.

For this reason, today at Sambafoot we have given ourselves the task of compiling the most important Brazilian footballers in the history of the culé team, highlighting everything from the most recent to the true legends of world football.

The best Brazilian footballers in the history of FC Barcelona

Ronaldo de Assís Moreira (Ronaldinho Gaúcho)

  • Tenure: 2002-2007
  • Achievements: 1 UEFA Champions League (2005/06), 2 LaLiga (2004/05 and 2005/06), 2 Spanish Super Cup (2005/06 and 2006/07), 1 Ballon d’Or (2005) and 1 Player of the year UEFA (2005) and 2 Best FIFA Player (2004 and 2005).

It’s true. Ronaldinho is neither the Brazilian footballer with the most goals nor the most titles in the history of FC Barcelona.

However, the legacy of the magician from Porto Alegre went beyond mere statistics, being the architect of the first great Barça of the early 2000’s and the one in charge of bringing smiles back to the fans with his dribbles, with his filigrees and with his undeniable charisma.

With the Catalans, Ronaldinho played a total of 207 games, scoring 94 goals and distributing 71 assists, also winning several team and individual titles in what is believed to be the peak performance of a footballer in the modern history of football.

For many, ‘Ronnie’ is still that footballer who could have been the best in history, but who didn’t want to be.

Rivaldo Vítor Borba Ferreira

  • Tenure: 1997-2002
  • Achievements: 2 LaLiga (1997/98 and 1998/99), 1 European Super Cup (1997/98), 1 Copa del Rey (1997/98), 1 Ballon d’Or (1999) and 1 UEFA Player of the Year (2005) ) and 1 Best FIFA Player (1999).

At FC Barcelona, Rivaldo left a practically indelible legacy. Winner of the Ballon d’Or in 1999, this tireless forward knew how to make a name for himself in the elite with authentic goals and spectacular performances.

In 235 games, Rivaldo scored 130 goals and distributed 45 assists and is, along with Ronaldinho and Luis Figo, one of the last Barça players (other than Lionel Messi) to win a Ballon d’Or wearing the Blaugrana colors.  

Daniel Alves da Silva

  • Tenure: 2008-2016 / 2021-2022
  • Achievements: 3 UEFA Champions League (2008/09, 2010/11, 2014/15), 3 Club World Cups (2010, 2012 and 2016), 6 LaLiga (2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2012/ 13, 2014/15 and 2015/16), 3 European Super Cup (2009/10, 2011/12 and 2015/16), 4 Copa del Rey (2008/09, 2011/12, 2014/15 and 2015/16) and 4 Spanish Super Cup (2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2013/2014).

Controversies aside, what Dani Alves did at a football level at FC Barcelona can never be erased. The right-back has an absolutely enviable track record, being key both in the Barça del Sextete and in the team that reached the second treble in its history in 2015.

408 games, 22 goals, 105 assists and 23 titles with the culé team have allowed him to immortalize himself at the football level in Barcelona. However, his controversial private life has stained her legacy and his career.

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior

  • Tenure: 2013-2017
  • Achievements: 1 UEFA Champions League (2014/15), 1 Club World Cup (2016), 2 LaLiga (2014/15 and 2015/16), 1 European Super Cup (2001/02), 1 Spanish Super Cup (2013/ 14).

Maybe, just maybe, if Neymar Jr. had not been tempted by PSG in 2017, becoming the most expensive signing in the history of football, we would be mentioning him in a higher position in this ranking.

The man who aimed to be Lionel Messi’s heir at Barça had a very notable time in Barcelona, being part of the legendary MSN that won the treble in 2015. However, his traumatic departure for 222 million euros for Paris Saint-Germain forever tarnished his time as a culé.

Romário de Souza Faria

  • Tenure: 1993-1995
  • Achievements: 1 LaLiga (1993/94) and 1 Best FIFA Player (1994).

Romário’s short but intense period at FC Barcelona deserves a clear mention in this ranking. The legendary footballer from Rio played just a couple of seasons for Barça, losing a European Cup final against AC Milan, but winning a league along the way.

In 65 games, Romário scored nothing more and no less than 39 goals, also distributing 11 assists, which earned him the best FIFA player in 1994 wearing the Barça shirt.

Evaristo de Macedo Filho

  • Tenure: 1957-1962
  • Achievements: 4 LaLiga (1958/59, 1959/60, 1962/63 and 1963/64), 1 Copa del Rey (1958/59), 2 Fairs Cup (1957/58 and 1959/60).

In the 1950s, Evaristo de Macedo from Rio became the great offensive leader of that Barça that won two Fair Cups and four league trophies. 

The Brazilian scored 105 goals in 151 with Barça, and then had a very short spell at Real Madrid, a club with which he only played 19 games.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima (Ronaldo Fenómeno)

  • Tenure: 1996-1997
  • Achievements: 1 European Cup Winners’ Cup (1996/97), 1 Copa del Rey (1996/97), 1 Spanish Super Cup (1996/97) and 1 Best FIFA Player (1996).

Despite being more of a Real Madrid legend than a Barça legend, Ronaldo Fenómeno had a more than outstanding scoring career for the Catalan team. 

After signing from PSV in 1996, Ronaldo scored the not inconsiderable number of 47 goals in 49 games, also distributing 13 assists, which translates to 60 generated (G/A). A true scoring machine.

Sylvio Mendes Campos Junior (Sylvinho)

  • Tenure: 2004-2009
  • Achievements: 2 UEFA Champions League (2005/06 and 2008/09), 3 LaLiga (2004/05, 2005/06 and 2008/09), 2 Spanish Super Cup (2004/05 and 2005/06) and 1 Copa del King (2008/09).

In that Barça that began to stand out on the big European stages, the Brazilian left back, Sylvinho, shone. The footballer from São Paulo managed to win two UEFA Champions League titles, playing 128 games in which he scored 3 goals and distributed 14 assists.
