Brazil will start its journey in the Copa América 2024 next Monday, June 24, against Costa Rica. The Group D match will be played at the SoFi Stadium in California, starting at 22:00 (Brasilia time).

The team, coached by Dorival Júnior, secured a 3-2 victory against Mexico and a 1-1 draw against host USA in friendly matches in preparation for the continental tournament.

In the first match, an alternative lineup was used to test players, while in the second, a lineup closer to what will be the starting formation was deployed.

Before traveling to Los Angeles from Orlando, where the five-time world champions are based, there was a training session that included a warm-up part open to the press and a tactical testing part behind closed doors. There, the coach set up the possible team for the debut.

With the basis of the initial eleven against the United States, there are still two major doubts. It remains to define the central defender who will accompany Marquinhos, with options being Gabriel Magalhães, returning from a minor injury, or Lucas Beraldo.

In midfield, both Bruno Guimarães and Lucas Paquetá are shaping up as starters. The question is whether they will be joined by Douglas Luiz or João Gomes, both of whom had a great season at Aston Villa and Wolverhampton, respectively.

On the other hand, Costa Rica comes from defeating Saint Kitts and Nevis 4-0 and Grenada 3-0 in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Already without Keylor Navas, who recently announced his retirement from international football, the Ticos also drew a friendly match against an alternative Uruguay team, formed only by players from the local league.
