Pelé at the World Cup

Pelé truly shone for the first time at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, where he played a key role in Brazil’s win. In the 1962 World Cup in Chile, even though he was injured early on, his initial games were crucial for Brazil securing their second straight title.

The 1970 World Cup in Mexico was a standout moment for Pelé. He led Brazil all the way, winning his third World Cup and earning the Golden Ball.

This achievement solidified his place as one of the greatest in football. In total, Pelé won three World Cups with Brazil, achieving victories in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

Pelé remains the only player to win three World Cups, a record untouched to this day, with only Germany reaching Brazil’s three-win mark in 2014. More than records, Pelé’s impact goes beyond the pitch.

He inspired many, becoming a symbol of talent, hard work, and the sheer love of the game.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
