In football, goalkeepers are the players who accumulate the most minutes not only because of their importance in their coaches’ schemes, but also because of their leadership and solidity, characteristics that make them almost immovable pieces in the starting eleven.
In the Brasileirão, this is no exception, since in the most recent study published by the CIES Football Observatory, it was revealed that four of the five goalkeepers with the most minutes accumulated in the last 365 days live in the first division championship of Brazil.

Four of the five goalkeepers with the most accumulated minutes worldwide are Brazilians
The Palmeiras goalkeeper, Weverton, the questioned captain and veteran player of Corinthians, Cássio and Rafael Monteiro, the starting goalkeeper of São Paulo, take the gold, silver and bronze, respectively, in the aforementioned study by the Swiss entity.
In the last 365 days, Weverton has become the goalkeeper who has accumulated the most minutes consecutively, adding, up to the date the study was published, a total of 6,030 minutes. Cássio and Rafael follow with 5877 and 5850 minutes, respectively.

Surprisingly, the fourth position would go to another Brazilian goalkeeper, Joao Ricardo, Fortaleza’s starting goalkeeper, who has accumulated 5,696 minutes in the last calendar year.
To close, Union Saint-Gilloise’s Luxembourg goalkeeper, Anthony Morris, closes the ranking with his 5,650 minutes added in the last year.
