Manchester United players avoided passing the ball to Antony during their defeat against Arsenal, according to a BBC broadcast. The program “Match Of The Day 2” analyzed the actions of the English classic and noticed that the United players deliberately avoided playing with the Brazilian on the right wing.
Former player and commentator Jermaine Jenas pointed out that, on several occasions, Antony was free on the right wing but did not receive passes. Since arriving in England in the 2022/23 season, the Brazilian player has been criticized for his lack of passing to better placed teammates at times.

Antony under pressure at Manchester United

“You can see Lindelof had the opportunity to pass the ball to an unmarked man and put him one on one. But he misses the opportunity to give the ball to Antony. Lindelof has the ball. Antony shouts: ‘Hand me the ball’. It’s the perfect moment to give him the ball one on one, but they ignore him and Arsenal take the opportunity to press, until they move back towards Onana,” said the commentator, analyzing one of the actions.
In addition to these criticisms, Antony is also facing investigations for assault charges against his ex-girlfriend. These accusations led to his exclusion from the Brazilian national team which faces Bolivia and Peru during the international break.
Antony was bought by Manchester United about a year ago for a sum of 100 million euros, from Ajax Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. The Brazilian striker is considered a key player by coach Erik ten Hag, who coached him when they were both at the Dutch club. During his first season with the Red Devils, Antony scored eight goals and made three assists in 44 matches.
